Eradicating woodworms in Harewood, North Yorkshire.
Since 1941 Gateways School has been synonymous with excellence in education. So, everyone in the team at Brick-Tie Preservation are delighted we were chosen to help Gateways in the creation of their new 6th form centre in Harewood.
The Old Vicarage on Harewood Avenue is an early 19 century house, which is a jewel of a place. It’s spacious, with some wonderful Diocletian windows, a typical embellishment, present on many of the former Harewood estate houses along this popular road.
The new centre, scheduled for completion in September, will further strengthen Gateways Schools already commendable offering to sixth form students.
Essential damp proofing and insect treatment
Our involvement has helped in enable the renovation and conversion aspects of the project. We’re ensuring that the investment the school are making is protected from underlying dampness and timber infestations. The Vicarage has been rather neglected for decades, with damp walls and woodworms thriving in the roof timbers Lots of work is required to repair damage and protect the building for the future. Our work underpins the school’s considerable investment in the new center.
Our longest service technician, Darren Roberts (25 years and counting), supervised the work. He’s leaving the project this week, so the fitting out of the space can commence, as Darren moves on to another project.
Gateways project manager Phil Robertson was keen to praise the Brick-Tie teams’ effort “I want to express how pleased I am with the work your lads have done, very knowledgeable and professional”. Thank you Phil. This was reciprocated on site too, Gateways School and their site team, were a pleasure to work with (as expected).
The project is an example of the healthy economic environment and strength of the independent educational sector in the North of Leeds… well done Gateways!
