Some teamwork for a good cause.
This Saturday our leadership team were up before the larks to take part on a dawn walk for one of our favorite charities. The National Dawn walk is part of The Samaritans fund raising effort to help maintain their national suicide prevention helpline. So our founders Bryan & Julie Hindle, employee trustee Sian Hamilton and director David Gill, decided to walk together and pool their resources to raise some much needed cash.
A fantastic place to welcome a new day.
St Aiden’s RSPB center in Allerton Bywater was chosen as the venue. We arrived in the pitch black at 6.30am. Just over 4 miles were covered, as we walked around the lakes and listened as hundreds of wildfowl awoke to welcome the start of a new day. We talked about people we knew who had been lost to suicide, quietly remembering them, as the dawn rose.
Much needed money for a worthy cause.
Together we raised over £1100 for The Samaritans. Not bad for what was really a lovely and relaxing walk, around a wonderful bird sanctuary.
You can still support the effort via direct donation here.
