No damp proofing needed!

A combined damp and timber survey, with a wall tie survey too.

Our surveyor illustrates how high moisture meter readings can be found at the base of wall, when in fact there is no rising damp and no damp proofing required.

In this case the damp and mould in the lounge bay window is due to condensation. Elevated readings to the side wall are due to ‘bridging’ of the DPC (the path is too high). This video is a good few years old but the principles are unchanged. Find the defects and fix them to keep homes dry. No damp proofing was needed. It was merely a case of lowering the paths and improving the mechanical extraction in the house to reduce humidity.

The wall ties are corroded and wall tie corrosion has caused slight damage. However, once slight horizontal cracks occur, they get steadily worse. Wall tie replacement stops the damage becoming so great that the external render fails, or worse, the walls bulge and need rebuilding.

We take a traditional approach to damp, wall tie and timber surveying. This is mated to the use of the best modern equipment too. Where remedial repairs are needed, we offer great value and high quality. We’ve been doing this for 30 years.
