Damp proofing and timber treatment in older buildings needs care – that’s one reason we train so hard; for customer safety as well as our own.

So all our site and surveying staff have just completed more Asbestos awareness training for the second time in two years.

Why?

Well for starters there is a mandatory duty for employers to protect their staff and the public from undue risk. However, what many people don’t realise is that asbestos is present in one form or another in very many older buildings. Refurbishment work, such as damp-proofing, timber treatment and structural repairs can disturb these materials, putting lives at risk.

To make sure that we meet safe standards we engaged OHS Group, one of the country’s leading health & safety consultancies, with particular expertise in asbestos risk management. Our team visited OHS’s Bradford office for the training and now have their UKATA – United Kingdom Asbestos Training Association, certificates.

We work in domestic homes, offices, barns, converted industrial units and listed buildings. All these environments can harbour asbestos, which if disturbed, can be a killer. The UKATA certification forms part of our commitment to quality and safety, so that we deliver your job, without putting anyone at undue risk from hazardous asbestos.

Our commitment to training is well known; we’ve won awards for it before. Learning never stops and Yorkshire’s finest damp proofing, timber treatment and wall tie company is also one of the safest too…and that’s reassuring.

We’ve also recently re-trained on safe inspection and erection of mobile access equipment for our wall tie and structural repair work, passing our PASMA assessment.
